40 HOUR FAST

for

PEACE, CONVERSION OF HEARTS AND DELIVERANCE FROM EVIL.  

 Friday November 23 -  Sunday November 25, 2001  A great way to celebrate the Feast of Christ the King

All Catholics are called to join in a 40 Hour FAST to be held in the Archdiocese of Perth beginning Friday November 23, 7.30 p.m. and ending Sunday November 25, 11.30 a.m. to ask the Lord for peace, conversion of hearts and deliverance from evil in our world. Join with us and plead for God’s Mercy in these very troubled times.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO FAST AND WOULD JUST LIKE TO PLEDGE YOUR PRAYER OFFERING PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO JOIN.

     FASTING OPTIONS

              

v     Bread and Water for the 40 hours

v     Barley Sugar, Juices and Water for the 40 hours

v     One full meal on Saturday plus two small snacks, with water on Friday evening and Sunday morning

AND /  OR

      PRAYER OPTIONS

v     Attending the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on     the Friday, Saturday and Sunday

v     Praying the Holy Rosary for peace (as called for by the Holy Father)

v     Praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet

v     Offering a prayer of your choice, or

v     All of the above.

Please remember to offer your prayer for the intentions of Peace, Conversion and Deliverance from evil, on each of the three days.

 

HOW CAN I JOIN OTHER CATHOLICS IN PRAYER AND FELLOWSHIP DURING THE FAST, IF I SO WISH?

Please note: You are able to participate in the FAST without having to be present for any of the following. Likewise, if you are supporting the event with your prayer, you are also welcome to attend any or all the events (apart from the Catered Lunch, which is only for those breaking the fast). 

OPTIONAL EVENTS 

FRIDAY NIGHT

v      Opening Mass celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church in Highgate at 7.30 p.m.

 v      Eucharistic Adoration, Prayer and Song after Mass until Midnight

 

SATURDAY

v      Holy Hour from 12.00 p.m. until 1.00 p.m. in St. Mary’s Cathedral

 v     Afternoon Events from 1.30 p.m. until 7. 30 p.m.

 TALK (The problem of Evil) – 1.30 p.m. – 3.00 p.m. in the Cathedral Parish Centre followed by a Passion Meditation and the 3 o’clock prayer, fellowship, a second TALK (Power of Prayer and Fasting) – 4.30 p.m. – 6.00 p.m. and more fellowship. Videos will also be shown during the breaks for those who still need extra help to forget their hunger!

 YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE PRESENT FOR THE ENTIRE AFTERNOON.

JUICE AND WATER WILL BE PROVIDED

 v      Eucharistic Adoration – 7.30 p.m. – 9.30 p.m. in St. Mary’s Cathedral

 

SUNDAY

v      Solemn Sung Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 10 a.m. (Normal Sunday Mass)

 v      Catered Lunch at the Legion of Mary Edel Quinn Centre, 36 Windsor Street, East Perth from 11.45 a.m. – 2.00 p.m.
