PARISH EFFORT & AN EFFORT AT PARISH

St. Peter Parish organization consists of a Parish Council and four commissions Spiritual Life and Worship, Christian Education, Social Concerns, and Administration.

**SPIRITUAL LIFE & WORSHIP**
LITURGY	ART & ENVIRONMENT: Decorates the church. SERVERS: Assist at Mass beginning in Grade 6. ELECTORS: Proclaim the Word of God at Mass. MUSIC: The leading of prayer through music is done by the cantors, choirs, and musicians. The liturgical music director provides music suggestions for the month. USHERS: Scheduled for Mass a month at a time. EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: Distribute Holy Communion at Mass, in hospitals, to shut-ins and at area nursing homes.
DEVOTIONS	PERPETUAL HELP: Every Tuesday, 7 PM in the chapel. PERPETUAL ADORATION: In the Chapel. ROSARY: Saturday in church at 4:45 & 6:30 PM.
RENEWAL	RETREATS: Sponsored according to needs; listed in the bulletin. MISSION: Hosted by the parish periodically. VOCATIONS: A call for individuals interested in entering the priesthood or religious life. ADULT FORMATION: Includes bible study, adult education short courses, Lenten and Advent programs; scheduled at various times and announced in the bulletin and brochures.
MOVEMENTS	CURSILLO: A program for individuals wanting spiritual growth. TEC: A weekend opportunity named Teens to Encounter Christ. MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER: A weekend renewal for married couples. CHARISMATIC: Prayer Group on second and fourth Monday's at 7 PM. First Friday Mass, and conferences, focusing on Holy Spirit spirituality.

**RELIGIOUS EDUCATION**
ST. PETER INTERPARISH SCHOOL: Accredited by the Missouri Chapter of the National Federation of Nonpublic School State Accrediting Association, the school provides a strong academic program and religious instruction for children in grades K-8 in an environment in which Christian values and morals are fostered. The school offers counselors, resource teachers and a special education program. Students are involved in various extracurricular activities where they are taught to meet challenges and use their talents. The Home and School Association, comprised of all parents and guardians of the students, works closely with the administration and faculty to increase interest in the educational and school related affairs, offer support for the school and promote parent-school activities. The School Board, consisting of nine representatives from St. Peter and St. Andrew Parishes plus ex-officio staff members, formulates school policies and long-range plans.
CONFRATERNITY OF CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE: Classes are held once a week to provide religious instruction for the preschool children through youth attending public schools.
CONFIRMATION: Classes scheduled from September through May for persons age 16 and older who wish to receive this sacrament.
INFANT BAPTISM: Classes scheduled six times a year for parents and godparents of babies receiving this sacrament.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS (RCIA): The process by which adults and youth are received into the Catholic faith community through Baptism or by Profession of Faith if they are already baptized. Catholics find renewal by participating in the process as sponsors or team members.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION: Required for those couples planning to marry. Must contact the rectory six months before the wedding.

**SOCIAL CONCERNS COMMISSION**
LADIES SODALITY: For all women in the parish to offer social opportunities, to provide for the sanctuaries/sacristies in the Parish, and sponsor the luncheons after funerals. Meets monthly.
HOLY NAME SOCIETY: For all men in the parish to sponsor the boy scouts of our parish, co-sponsor the parish picnic and barbecue, and recruit Helping Hands to complete summer repairs to parish property. Arrange transportation for parishioners in need. Meets first Tuesday after the first Sunday of the month.
SAMARITAN CENTER: A cooperative project supported by 8 Catholic and 8 Protestant churches in the area. The center addresses needs that are not provided Federal and State programs, such as food, utility assistance, etc. Open to the public Monday - Thursday, 10:00 a.m. until noon at 429 Clark St., Jefferson City.
GIVING TREE PROJECT: Works with the Samaritan Center to adopt 30-35 families at Christmas, providing gifts and a food basket for each family. Gifts are purchased by parishioners.
HELPING HEARTS: A bereavement ministry that lends support to families who have lost a loved one that includes planning the funeral Mass liturgy, sympathy cards, and support groups.
SENIOR CITIZENS: A monthly gathering on the 2nd Tuesday of the month (except January and August) that includes a prayer service, bingo, dessert and coffee. The first graders in our school adopt a Senior and make cards for their new friend.
YOUNG ADULT: Targeting parishioners 21-35 years of age, the group gathers for spiritual exchange and social events.
PRO-LIFE: An educational and lobbying group with focus on the right to life, informing the parish on legislation needing support/opposition, and urging parishioners to become more involved by contacting their legislators.
SEWING CIRCLES: Three sewing circles create quilts for auction and various fund raisers in the parish. ST. PETER'S NEIGHBORHOODS: Divides the parish into geographic neighborhoods, concentrating on welcoming new parishioners, providing assistance to persons and families in need, and establishing a Catholic faith community within the neighborhoods.

**ADMINISTRATION COMMISSION**
FINANCE: The finance committee is responsible for the overall development and approval of the annual budget for the church. The committee also approves the school budget developed by the school board. The committee monitors revenue and expense reports, advising the pastor and parish business manager. The group recommends fund raising activities and annual stewardship targets. The seven person committee meets quarterly with the pastor and business manager. Most committee members have a background in finance, accounting, or business management.
MAINTENANCE: The maintenance committee assesses the needs of the parish's physical plant. It provides ongoing advice and direction on a number of maintenance projects. The five member group meets each quarter. Most members are experienced in contracting, construction, building trades, electrical or plumbing work.
HELPING HANDS: Parishioners helping with the care and maintenance of buildings and grounds through a series of projects each summer.
RENTAL: This group establishes the rental policies for Selinger Center and the church. The three member group meets quarterly to monitor rental activities. A background in rental property management is very useful.
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS: This group reviews all capital improvement needs, plans fund raising and solicits bids, and awards construction and maintenance contracts. The group consists of four members plus the pastor and meets quarterly. Experience in management, accounting, or the construction trades is helpful.
LONG RANGE PLANNING: This group identifies long-range parish goals primarily in the area of developing the physical plant to meet the evolving needs of the parish. Members of this committee are drawn from appropriate groups within the parish.
